Invisibility Wetsuits" Hide You From Sharks While You Swim" The coast of Western Australia has been particularly dangerous place for shark attacks recent years earning it the distinction of becoming shark attack capital of the world. Between October 2011 and July 2012 great white sharks killed five people in attacks in the area. In response a company called Shark Attack Mitigation Systems (SAMS) and University of Western Australia scientists have been working to protect swimmers surfers and divers from getting chomped on with a line of shark-deterring wet suits. After two years of research and development the suits went on sale this week. One version Elude camouflages the wearer in the water based on the recent discovery that sharks seem to be color blind. The other Diverter aims to repel sharks with high-contrast black and white bands a natural signal the company says tells sharks you aren't the delicious snack they're looking for. 
Many animals in biology are repelled by noxious animals – prey that provide a signal that somehow says 'Don't eat me' – and that has been manifest in a striped pattern UWA professor Shaun Collin told the Guardian.   The suits' designs were tested with tiger sharks off the coast of Western Australia but not with humans inside them. This is called electrolocation. Sharks don t generate their own electric field. Instead they have sensors that can pick up electric signals which are created by every living animal in the water. This is passive electrolocation. When you go into the ocean you have what s called a bioelectric potential around your body; sharks can hone in on that using electroreceptors. Any kind of cut in the skin increases this bioelectric potential creating a sort of electrical spotlight and putting the animal at a higher risk of being detected. We know that sharks hunt using their extremely sensitive sense of smell as well – but this is mostly useful for getting in the general vicinity of potential prey. Passive electrolocation complements this blurry sensory ability so that the shark can make a precise attack.thats what i was thinking. Sharks can sense electric fields of creatures around them.Perhaps the don't eat me markings would be benifical in that case ... It's poison i'll [Expletive Deleted]for a week.From a distance sharks also scan for shadows on the surface. Most tastey treats are usually at the surface. Things like seals penguins large fish. So initially the sharks won't even see the stripes as their eyes suck. They do detect silhouettes though. These surfers are mostly going to be using surfboards too. Those give off a serious silhouette. The same kind of shadow that things sharks eat give off. The shark sees the shadow moves in closer smells mammal and then senses the electrical signal. Over. This suit didn't do crap. also $500?! For a striped pattern? Sonar devices that repel sharks are far more dependable.Do not try and bend the spoon. That is impossible.  I believe I made the same point in the beginning...The hotels I go have large clean swimming pools. I never swim in other's sewage.
